I don’t want to stop winning awards: Rohit Sharma | Cricket News – Times of India

MUMBAI: After winning T20 World Cup in June in the West Indies the Indian captain Rohit Sharma is now greedy for more awards in his cabinet.
“I won five IPL trophies for a reason. I’m not going to stop, you know, because when you get a taste of winning games, winning cups, you don’t want to stop. We will continue to work hard as a team. We will continue to strive for new things. We have a couple of solid tours coming up, also very challenging. So yeah, it never stops for us. When you achieve something, you always look forward to achieving more, and so do I. I’m pretty sure my teammates feel the same way. We live in exciting times Indian cricket moving forward,” Rohit said at the Ceat Cricket Rating Awards on Wednesday.
“Honestly, the last two years in Indian cricket have been really exciting and some good cricket has been played as well. The next couple of years will be exciting too. So hopefully we can go out and enjoy the game at the same time and then try to take advantage of every opportunity that comes our way,” the Indian captain assured .
meanwhile BCCI secretary Jay Shah there it is again. Almost six months after successfully predicting India’s T20 World Cup victory in the West Indies, Shah has predicted that India can win three trophies in a row – the Women’s T20 World Cup in October in the UAE, the ICC Champions Trophy next February in Pakistan, and the WC – finals of the Games in England in June 2025.
“As I told you in Rajkot, we are going to host our flag in Barbados and our captain did it. If we have the blessing of 1.4 billion people, we can do the same in the Champions Trophy, the WTC final and the Women’s T20 World Cup,” Shah, who received the CEAT Award for Excellence in Sports Administration Award, said.
“Bumrah is scarier after returning from injury”
Meanwhile, New Zealand captain Tim Southee assessed India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has looked more formidable since returning from a back injury that largely kept him out of action in 2022.
“To be able to recover from a major injury first and come back, he’s even better than what he was before. Besides juggling multiple formats, it can be difficult at times,” Southee said.
“He seems to have been able to do it easily. He’s probably more experienced, understands his game a little bit more. He probably had that moment when he got injured to come back to recharge, to freshen up. We’re just seeing a great version of him. (Bumrah) in all three formats He’s brilliant in all three formats right now (better than him) he said.
Jaiswal is a package: Hayden
Former Aussie great Matthew Hayden has given thumbs up to Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon’s idea to start Yashasvi Jaiswalwhom he regarded as the “powerhouse” of Indian cricket in the Border-Gavaskar Five-Test series in December.
“Isn’t it great that the series is shaping up a bare-bones heavyweight match, with someone like the GOAT chasing after it, which I think is one of the major assets of Indian cricket. Yes, he’s certainly proving to be,” Hayden said.
Congratulating Jaiswal as a “package”, Hayden said Jaiswal’s ability to hit through the covers is “phenomenal”. “Young Jaiswal is an exciting prospect to see how he plays. He’s a package. His ability to come up through the covers in particular is phenomenal. There’s also his vulnerability,” Hayden said, while stressing that he would have to adapt to Australia’s bouncy tracks against the home side’s world-class pace.
